EXPERIENCE
My passion for IPECP, nursing, and critical care is illustrated through affiliations with several external professional organisations: CAIPE member elected National Board member, CAIPE Research Working Group, CAIPE IPE Standards Working Group Member, IPR.Global Communication and Marketing Working Group, IP.Global Capacity Building Working Group, Treasurer & Trustee of the Northern Regional British Association of Critical Care Nurses (BACCN) Committee, Adult Intensive Care Reviewer of the Nursing in Critical Care journal, member of North of England Critical Care Network and the International Network for Health Workforce Education.
My healthcare career began in 1999, and my nursing expertise is in adult critical care. Teaching proficiency is demonstrated with an 18-year proven ability to educate health professions in diverse settings. This includes health professionals within clinical professional practice, international and UK nursing and interprofessional healthcare students, in Further Education (FE), in Higher Education (HE), and at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
My strengths and expertise are focused in the areas of adult critical care, interprofessional learning and education, patient safety and simulation-based education. I am experienced with a wide range of clinical nursing skills and underpinning knowledge. I have experience with project management, evidenced by development of a health care simulation suite in an FE college. I have organised conferences, reviewed international awards, and I have disseminated research and scholarly activity through publications, development of learning materials, presentations at conferences and via online platforms.
Additionally, I am interested in the use of creative writing in relation to health care experiences, reflection, and practitioner development and have contributed to an anthology of poetry and delivered regional & national workshops on these topics.
I am research engaged having recently completed my doctoral research focused on the interprofessional learning culture in adult critical care and as a member of the Centre for the Advancement of Interprofessional Education (CAIPE) Research Working Group and member of Interprofessional Research.Global (IPR.Global). I have a consistent track record of proficiency with collaborative partnership working, effective communication, and engagement with regional, national, and international professional organisations.
